Terms and Conditions
Please note we are a small country house hotel in a very quiet part of the country and we hope these guidelines, booking conditions and general information will guarantee both the smooth running of the Hotel and the maximum comfort of our guests at all times.
Arrival Times
Rooms are available to check in from 2.30pm to 10.00pm. Should you arrive early and your room not be ready, we will be pleased to store your luggage and offer you refreshments until housekeeping have finished your room. Please notify us in advance if you intend to arrive late or if you are running late, especially if you have reserved a table for dinner in our Restaurant. We usually close the Hotel when all our resident guests have gone to bed and non-resident diners have left for home. Late arrivalsafter may incur a surcharge.
Departure information
Rooms must be vacated by 11am. Late checkouts can sometimes be arranged subject to availability, otherwise anyunauthorised late checkouts will incur a charge of £10 per half hour after 11.00am.
Cancellation policy
Please would you note that cancellations can only be accepted in writing by post, fax or e-mail. Regretfully, the cancellation of a reservation less than 21 days prior to arrival, will incur a charge of 75% of the total cost unless the accommodation is subsequently re-let. Failure to show up on the day or cancelling any days once you have arrived will incur a 100% charge of the total cost. Any days cancelled once you have arrived, for whatever reason, will be charged in full at the appropriate single daily room rate.
Your Room
There is a hairdryer in all rooms together with complimentary tea and coffee making facilities. Please let us know if you would like fresh milk. An iron and an ironing board are available upon request.
Internet Access
Fast Broadband Internet access is available throughout the Hotel from any 13amp socket. Please ask reception for a connection plug.
Late Nights and after Hours access to the Hotel
Would guests please note that we are a small, family run Country House Hotel and we usually lock the front door when either the last guest has retired for the night, or when we shut the bar to non-resident guests which is at 11.00pm. We want you to enjoy your stay with us, so if you know you are going to be out until after 11.00pm please contact reception (phone 0) before you leave and we will ensure a member of our staff is on duty up to midnight. Would guests wishing to stay out after midnight attending parties, weddings or other late finishing occasions, please notify us a soon as possible so we can arrange for an alternative access for you. We can also arrange for a taxi to take you to and collect you from your late night / early hours destination.
Keys and Going Out
Would guests kindly leave their keys on the bar when going out – This is most important as we will then know if you are in or out in case of an emergency.
Meal Times
Breakfast is served in the dining room between 8.00am and 9.30am. Early morning tea and Continental breakfast can be served in your room from 8.00am to 10.00am. We operate a limited room service for drinks only throughout the day up to 10.00pm. Food is not available. The bar is open from 5.30pm to 11pm.
As our guests are usually out for the day we do not offer lunch in our Restaurant. However, packed lunches are available – please order the evening before.
We take orders for dinner from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. Please note we automatically reserve a table in the dining room for our residents and would appreciate it if you could advise us in the morning if you do not plan to dine with us.
If you have any special dietary requirements, please notify us as soon as possible to give our Chefs adequate notice to meet your needs. Dress at dinner is smart casual. We are more relaxed at breakfast.
Children's Meal Times
We usually serve an evening meal for children under 8 in our Restaurant between 5.00pm and 6.00pm. A copy of our Children’s Menu is available upon request. However, children dining with their parents in the Restaurant during normal dinner service will be required to eat from the evening menu.
Tennis and Croquet
We have an all-weather tennis court – racquets and balls are available upon request. We would be grateful if you could please ensure that you wear the correct footwear (trainers with black soles will damage the surface of the court.) Croquet can be played on the main lawn. Please ask a member of staff for equipment.
Swimming
During the summer months, the outdoor heated swimming pool is open to residents between the hours of 9.30am and 6.30pm.
Outdoor Activities
A wide range of sporting and recreational facilities is available in the area – flying, sailing, surfing, clay pigeon shooting, windsurfing, dry skiing, diving, riding, as well as golf and river or sea fishing. Sightseeing includes The Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and numerous National Trust properties. Cornwall is renowned for splendid walking and we will be happy to give you details.
Checking Out
We would be grateful if you would please vacate your room by 11.00am on the day of your departure as our housekeepers have a limited time to prepare the room for the next occupancy. Late checkouts can sometimes be arranged subject to availability, otherwise any late checkouts will incur a charge of £10 per half hour after 11.00am.
General Information
The Hotel is completely non smoking although smoking is permitted in the grounds. Ashtrays can be provided upon request. Please note that only food and beverages purchased from the hotel may be consumed on the premises. We reserve the right to charge corkage on all drinks brought into the hotel. Minimum corkage per 75cl bottle of table wine is £10 plus VAT with sparkling wine at £15 plus VAT and Champagne at £20 plus VAT per bottle.

Not Happy With Something
Should you feel dissatisfied regarding any aspect of your stay with us, please bring it to the attention of the management as soon as possible, so that we may rectify the problem quickly and efficiently. We take pride in our guest satisfaction and would welcome any comments you may like to make.
Smoking
Smoking anywhere inside the Hotel is illegal and strictly forbidden. Smoking in a bedroom can leave the room unihabitable for days, hence anyone smoking in the Hotel bedrooms will automatically incur a surcharge of £250 for deep cleaning the room. This will be taken from the guests credit card which we hold on record without any prior authorisation.
Damage
Naturally any damage to The Well House or any item within our grounds incurred by guests or their friends will be charged in full to the guests account. We hope you enjoy your stay with us
